Upstart Eswai looks to win second round of PBA Team League
The winner of the second round of the professional billiards PBA Team League will be determined by the results of the final day of the round.
Eswai and SK Rent-a-Car moved into a tie for first place with three points after defeating Haiwon Resort and Blue One Resort, respectively, on Day 8 of the second round of the Welcome Savings Bank PBA Team League 2023-2024 at the Kintex PBA Stadium in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, on Wednesday afternoon.
Starting this season, the Team League will be played on a zero-sum basis, with the winner taking three points, the team that wins a full set taking two points, and the team that loses a full set taking one point.
In the second round, Eswai went 4-3 and SK Rent-a-Car went 5-2 to finish with 15 points each.
NHL Card is right behind them in third place with 5 wins and 2 losses and 14 points.
The PBA team leagues are ranked in the following order: wins → opponent record → sets won.

Eswai, SK Rent-a-Car, and NHL Card all have a chance to lift the trophy in Round 2, depending on the outcome of the final game on Thursday.
The winner of each round of the PBA Team League will secure a spot in the postseason.

Eswai can clinch the second-round title with three points against Hana Card at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, regardless of the outcome of the rest of their games.
They already have a head-to-head advantage after winning their match against SK Rent-a-Car on Day 4 with a set score of 4-0.
On the other hand, SK Rent-a-Car, which faces Welcome Savings Bank at 12:30 p.m. today, will need to overtake Eswai in points to have any hope of winning the title.
Third-place NH Card will play the final game of the second round at 9:30 p.m. against Crown Haetae.
The NHK Card has a head-to-head advantage over Eswai, so if SK Rent-a-Car loses and ties Eswai on points, they can pull off the upset.
